Synopsis:

Ellie Jordan and her apprentice Stacey investigate a house in an elaborate planned community that was only half-built before it went bankrupt, leaving an instant ghost town with only a few residents. The entity haunting this house is a banshee that feeds on sadness and misery.

Unfortunately for Ellie, this is no simple haunting, but just one symptom of the cursed land on which the suburban community was built. The old railroad line running through the nearby woods might just be a conduit for lost souls, including dark spirits with ill intentions toward the living. Ellie soon finds herself facing one of the most complex and difficult hauntings she’s seen in her career.
My rating: ★★★★☆

Ellie Jordan's next job takes her to this neighborhood that was abandoned in the middle of building due to insufficient funds. Now, there are just a couple of people here and there, living in some of the complete houses. But it's all for the best, I suppose, seeing as how it turns out that the whole place is pretty much haunted--an abandoned railroad nearby, particularly.

I unfortunately wasn't that into this ghost story, the history, I suppose, as much as I was the last book, The Crawling Darkness. Personal preference, is all, I guess. This does not by any means mean that it wasn't a good book, because it totally was! This is actually one of my most favorite ghost series ever! It has some very interesting ghost mythology, which I obviously love. In The Crawling Darkness we had this shape-shifting entity that basically used your own fears against you. It was creepy as hell (And one of my favorite books ever!) In Terminal, he have a family in this abandoned neighborhood that hires Ellie and the team because of a wailing ghost in their basement. Turns out it's a banshee! It's not really the wailing women who predict when someone is about to die from Irish mythology, but it's similar! This used to be a real person who is now, well dead. I thought this was very cool and interesting.

"We'd call them a first-stage banshee. A ghost with uncontrollable grieving issues. Often suicides, or people who suffered deep emotional pain in life. They won't let go of their pain, and it ties them to this world." -Ellie

I absolutely love the concept of this series, with all the ghost hunting equipment that gives it a Ghost Hunters feel (love that show!), yet it has it's own unique take at the same time. Plus we also get a psychic, Jacob, who is actually pretty awesome! And Terminal was very fun and creepy (in a good way!) and just very well written! I love all the characters: Ellie, Stacey, Jacob, Michael... and we even got to see others from previous books! I simply adore this series and cannot wait for more ghost hunting!
